OUR HISTORY
The Gates company was
founded by Charles Gates in 1911 in Denver, USA, where it has its global headquarters. About 6 years after Charles started in business, his brother John Gates
invented the V-belt, a revolutionary idea for automotive power transmission, and in 1946 the first synchronous belt was developed.
At the end of the 50s, Gates decided to establish its first production facility in Europe and the Erembodegem site in Belgium was chosen as a central location in Europe.

production and distribution centres as well as sales offices all over Europe.
